(Unfortunately, there won’t be much action. It’s exposition time!)
After giving Leon trouble, Sora passed out. Wonder how he’s doing. But first, how’s Donald and Goofy…
No one’s here. It’s giving me an eerie feeling.
Get it together!
2 seconds later <.<
Are you the King’s–?
Geez Sora you sure are lazy/slacking. Are you okay?
Ah, yeah–
Those things were after that Keyblade of yours.
Or more accurately, (they’re after) you, the one who wields the Keyblade.
I’m glad your safe Kairi —
Whose that? I’m– I’m (the ever so) cute Yuffie.
Not sure how many women use あたし but this is another way a woman can address herself.
It’s a bit informal so use it with care.
Huh?
It’s (as in the reason why Sora is thinking Yuffie is someone else) because you overdid it Squall.
I learned the word 無茶 from a Persona 5 vocab video by Game Grammar.
In Japan tea is very important. This word literally means “no tea”. And it’s true meaning is that something is unreasonable or excessive or over the top.
When used as a verb I think it’s best to go with overdo/overdid.
Call me Leon.
You might be confused on why Squall (*Makes quotational marks “Leon”) is leaving off the る from the verb 呼べる。This is because he is using the imperative form, which is basically a commanding tone. I’ve said this in a previous post but think of the imperative form like a drill sergeant.
Keyblade?
Yeah It was a little rough hiding it from them– or was it getting you to let go of the keyblade.
It was necessary for us to hide your heart. But it’ll only keep them away for just an hour.
Random thought: Truly wonder how they did this. Just by removing the keyblade from him? I mean he still has been kinda chosen by it. So shouldn’t heartless already know where he is regardless of him holding it?
Regardless, you’re the one who was chosen.
You’re unreliable but there’s nothing we can do about that, huh.
I’m telling you I know nothing! Could ya explain it properly for me!
You both know that there are many worlds other than your castle and this town, right?
Yeah.
But we can’t go telling anyone.
Because the worlds weren’t intertwined until now, no one knew.
But since the heartless have appeared, the situation has changed.
Heartless
See, those were the things that were chasing you.
They’re the hearts of dead people. Or:
EN: They’re the ones who lost their hearts (can’t be as blunt about death now can we 😉 )
Those things react to the darkness within people’s hearts and come to attack them!
Everyone’s hearts have darkness so you should be careful.
Hey, do you know a person called Ansem?
Ansem?
A person that was researching the heartless.
That person wrote many things about the heartless.
Show me that report.
They were scattered all over the place.
All over the place?
(As in) To many worlds.
Ah, then our king is–
Might be on a journey looking for the reports.
We have to hurry and go after him!
㉜そのーー {ちょっと待ってドナルドカメラ}
Before tha-
Before that “the key”!
NOTE: I like how they did this in the Japanese version because they actually had Donald pause on what he was saying and then drag down the camera. In the English version however he just drags it down and then says the line.
Yes “the key”, the Keyblade
Key? This?
Yeah that.
It seems the Keyblade is a nuisance to the heartless.
So they’ll be after you, the owner.
I said I don’t want to get into something like this.
Basically Sora saying “I don’t want to do this”.
And the Keyblade chooses you as the owner. So give it up!
As in you can’t get out of this since the Keyblade chooses you as the owner.
What a disaster.
No way–
I was just spacing out in my room when–
What about my room? My home, my island!? Riku! Kairi!!
No one can say nothing about that. / Who can say for sure.
EN: You know what? I really don’t know.
No one can say for sure about Sora’s questions right now but I’ll be back tomorrow to finish up Traverse Town.
